Charlotte, North Carolina has truly taken a liking to its branding as the queen city, yet its quality of life and actions could be no farther from that of royalty. Our non profit happens to be located here, and we see it necessary to be involved where we call home just as much as our wider audience and efforts. Charlotte, once a rural area, has grown into a modern metropolitan city. Skyscrapers, business ventures, sports, and a multi ethnic city has become a normalcy. Yet, growth should not equal a lack of quality and a inability for sensible action. Certain bodies with in the city see its growth as a excuse for a economy that's becoming more and more exclusionary and a cultural shift that's becoming too comfortable with crime and a aversion to its punishment. These factors build on each others. When people face crime, they no longer visit areas, causing business failures that lead to more crime. More and more once prosperous enjoyable areas of the city face this reality of the place they call home becoming a new experiment in over development and crime tolerance. We seek to change that and will change that.
